Largest BMW SUV for reveal as concept

These are among the first released images of the future largest BMW SUV, the X7 iPerformance which will be revealed in concept form on Tuesday at the Frankfurt Motor Show, writes Brian Byrne.

Aimed directly at the full size Range Rover, the 6-seat in three rows vehicle is promised to be 'a whole new take on luxury' for BMW.

A production model planned for next year. The concept is powered by a petrol plug-in hybrid engine which can operate with zero emissions in urban driving.

While its size might not make it into the production version, the domineering new take on the traditional kidney grille is quite massive.

It joins a range of SUVs from the Munich brand which started in 1999 with the X5.
